School of Engineering and Applied Science (Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET)), Ahmedabad

BTech Programme

The School of Engineering and Applied Science offers BTech programmes in three major disciplines - Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Engineering.

The school is offering uniquer engineering education and every programme is preparing students rigorously from real-life product design point of view. Innovative curricula seek to create product innovators who understand the challenges and opportunities of global environment. Each curriculum is adapted and improved every year. The school’s larger aim is to have students to make immediate and impactful contributions in their chosen fields of work, whether industry, academia, research bodies, start-up enterprises, or any areas of professional interest.

Minor specialization in Management:

Any student admitted to BTech programme will have an option to opt for Management as the minor specialization. Such flexibility will help the student to graduate with major in a chosen field of engineering, i.e. a student will be able to complete BTech in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) or Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering based on his/her career goal. At the same time, a student would have the flexibility to study a well defined set of courses in the domain of Management and it will provide required breadth. Courses in the domain of management will be offered by Amrut Mody School of Management.

Key Features of the BTech Programme:

  • A multi-disciplinary curriculum
  • Project-based, student-centered pedagogy
  • User-centered product design & innovation
  • Domain- and technology-based research and specialization
  • Minor specialization in Management
  • An international exchange programme
  • Students will be able to opt for minor specialization in 'Computer Science'

A note on project-based learning:

Project-based learning is a critical feature of the Engineering School’s academic programmes. For example, students in the information and communication technology programme do not simply learn computer system design in lectures, but also design and verify a Central Processing Unit (CPU) over the course of a semester. Similarly, chemical engineering students, in addition to gaining a strong conceptual understanding of separation processes, will also work in teams to extract an essential oil from biomass with supercritical fluids.

Students in all disciplines learn to program and use microcontrollers at an early stage, and apply this knowledge in many courses in subsequent years: in a first-year physics course, for instance, students are expected to devise microcontroller- and sensor-based systems for determining coefficients of friction. All students, regardless of discipline, receive an excellent foundation in programming. As a result of these and other strategies, students graduate not as “industry freshers,” but full-fledged engineering professionals.

Admissions to BTech programmes are offered under the following categories:

  1. Admissions through Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC)

50% of the total sanctioned seats will be filled by ACPC of the Government of Gujarat.

  2. Admissions through All India Seats ( JEE Main Merit )

50% Admission under this category will be given by Ahmedabad University and student should submit his/her application by filling online application form available at Website.

Tuition Fee - As decided by the Fee Regulatory Committee of the Government of Gujarat.

Financial Aid and Scholarships
