Zeal to learn the subject


This subject covers fundamentals of the preparatory processes of textile wet processing as well as colouration of textiles i.e. dyeing. The preparatory processes are indispensible part of wet processing to carry out further colouration and finishing of textiles

Course Outcome

After learning the course the students should be able to

  1. Understand the need, significance and detailed process of dry preparatory processes like Grey inspection, stitching, shearing & cropping, singeing, etc.
  2. Understand the need, significance and detailed process of wet preparatory processes like desizing, scouring, bleaching, optical brightening, etc.
  3. Analyze and Compare different methods for the said preparatory processes from techno-commercial point of view.
  4. Know about various machineries used for various wet processes.
  5. Get the knowledge of importance and technology of dyeing for textiles.
  6. Learn different methods and processes for dyeing of various fibrous materials and their comparative aspects.

Active Learning

Preparation of power-point slides, which include videos, animations, pictures, graphics for better understanding theory and practical work – The faculty will allocate chapters/ parts of chapters to groups of students so that the entire syllabus to be covered. The power-point slides should be put up on the web-site of the College/ Institute, along with the names of the students of the group, the name of the faculty, Department and College on the first slide. The best three works should submit to GTU.
