This subject is a robust tool and offers directions in making the best decisions possible given the data available. It may provide the executive with an analytical and quantitative basis to identify the problem area. The most frequently adopted applications in this category deal with production scheduling and inventory replenishment.
Course Outcome
After learning the course the students should be able to:
1. Identify and develop models for optimizing the management and production systems from the verbal description of the real system.
2. Facilitate quantitative solutions in business decision making under conditions of certainty, risk and uncertainty.
3. Acquaint him / her with applications of optimization techniques to solve manufacturing and other industry related problems.
4. Expose him / her to the significance of various scientific tools and models that are available in the subject to take decisions in a complex environment

Active Learning
Preparation of power-point slides, which include videos, animations, pictures, graphics for better understanding theory and practical work – The faculty will allocate chapters/ parts of chapters to groups of students so that the entire syllabus to be covered. The power-point slides should be put up on the web-site of the College/ Institute, along with the names of the students of the group, the name of the faculty, Department and College on the first slide. The best three works should submit to GTU.
