Textile design is the process of creating designs and structures for knitted, woven, nonwoven fabrics or embroidery on fabrics. Textile designing involves producing patterns for cloth used in clothing (Sarees, Kurta, salwar, dupatta, pants, shirts, etc), household textiles- curtains, bedcovers, sofa covers, table covers, towels and decorative textiles such as carpets. The technologist needs to create designs in textiles which are beautiful, easy to make and economical, whether they are in job or self employment as well as supervising the production process. For complicated visual development, they need to create ideas of visuals for professional designers by sketching. Thus they should have abilities to create themes with sketches of various kinds of textile designs involving geometrical and still life objects like- natural objects such as food, flowers, plants, rocks, animals, birds or shells or man-made objects as utensils, books, vases, jewelry, coins, houses, and so on. This course is essential to gain knowledge and practice to conceive variety of visuals for textile weaving and printing designs.
